Headquartered on the island of Oahu in the State of Hawaii, Honua Power, LLC was founded by local companies and local people in 2005. "Honua", Hawaiian for Planet Earth, is focused on building a renewable energy power plant that will benefit the residents of Oahu by reducing our dependency on fossil fuels, decreasing the demand on our landfills, offsetting emissions from fossil fuels, and helping Hawaii to meet its Renewable Portfolio Standards.

The Honua Power team is comprised of industry leaders with diverse backgrounds including, energy co-generation, environmental science, thermal process design and manufacturing, and special waste processing and disposal. In addition, the Honua engineering staff has over fifty years of collective experience designing and operating thermal process systems in the United States, Europe and Asia.
